First Encountered: Session 52 (2025-05-13)
๐ Description
A humanoid, zombie-like entity encountered during the battle within the Silver Canopy. Though it resembled a classic undead creature in form - gaunt, pallid, and shambling - it did not react to spells that specifically target the undead. Its behavior and presence were hollow, suggesting something other than necromantic animation.
When destroyed, it crumbled into dust, leaving no remains. It bore a resemblance to the Emberachnid in this regard, both in its physical hollowness and the manner of its collapse.
The name โHuskโ is used here to describe its apparent emptiness - a humanoid shell devoid of soul, purpose, or identity.
๐งช Observed Traits
-
Dust Collapse: Upon death, the creature disintegrated into dust.
-
Not Undead: Failed to respond to spells that affect undead, despite its zombie-like appearance.
-
Hollow Presence: Emotionless and devoid of will - an animated form functioning without agency.
๐งฌ Relationship to Hollow Malady
- Husks are the result of the Hollow malady, a condition that leaves creatures emptied of their essence, vitality, or soul.
- This state is most often observed after infestation by Emberlings, which hollow out living creatures from within.
